For Elisia.
For the nights when the world feels big, but your heart stays brave.
Princess Elisia liked the daytime best.
The sun made everything warm and bright. The flowers looked happier. The birds sang louder. And the road beyond the hills felt friendly and safe.
But sometimes…
Night came early.
One evening, the sky turned from blue to pink, and then from pink to purple. The clouds drifted slowly, like sleepy sheep crossing the sky.
Princess Elisia stood by her window and watched the light fade.
The world felt quieter.
Bigger.
Different.
She held her blanket a little tighter.
“I don’t like when it gets dark,” she whispered.
Her room felt bigger at night. The corners looked deeper. The hallway outside seemed long and silent.
Princess Elisia climbed into bed and pulled the blanket up to her chin.
Everything was still.
Too still.
Then she saw something.
A tiny flicker of light near her nightstand.
Princess Elisia blinked.
It flickered again.
“Hello?” she asked softly.
The tiny light floated gently into the air.
It glowed warm and gold, like a piece of sunshine that had forgotten to go to sleep.
Princess Elisia sat up slowly.
The light bobbed once.
Twice.
As if it were waving.
“Oh!” Princess Elisia gasped.
She reached out carefully.
The light drifted closer, humming softly like a sleepy song.
It wasn’t bright enough to fill the whole room.
But it was bright enough to chase away the shadows nearby.
Princess Elisia smiled.
“You’re not scary,” she said.
The little light flickered happily.
Princess Elisia slipped out of bed and followed the glowing light across her room.
With every small step she took, the dark corners didn’t seem so dark anymore.
The light stayed close, like a gentle friend guiding the way.
Princess Elisia walked to the doorway and peeked into the hallway.
It didn’t seem so big now.
The little golden light floated beside her shoulder.
“I think…” Princess Elisia said quietly, “I can be brave tonight.”
The light drifted ahead, lighting the path just enough for her to see.
Princess Elisia followed it to the window at the end of the hall.
Outside, the stars shimmered softly.
They looked like hundreds of tiny lights scattered across the sky.
Princess Elisia’s eyes grew wide.
“So many brave little lights,” she whispered.
She pressed her hand gently against the glass.
The little glowing friend hovered beside her.
Princess Elisia felt something warm inside her chest.
The dark didn’t feel scary anymore.
It just felt quiet.
Peaceful.
Princess Elisia returned to her room, the golden light floating happily nearby.
She climbed back into bed and snuggled under her blanket.
“Will you stay?” she asked.
The little light flickered softly.
Princess Elisia closed her eyes.
She could still see the gentle glow through her eyelids.
It felt like a tiny promise:
Even when the world feels big and dark, you are never alone.
By morning, the light was gone.
But Princess Elisia didn’t feel afraid.
She had learned something important.
Sometimes bravery isn’t loud.
Sometimes it’s just a tiny light that helps you take one small step at a time.
Princess Elisia smiled as sunlight filled her room.
“I can be brave,” she said proudly.
And somewhere, far beyond the hills, the Wandering Knight smiled too.
