Chronicle of Atherra
The years pass, but the flame, the sun, and the tide leave their marks upon every stone. To walk the Chronicle is to walk the bones of history itself
The Dawn of Kingdoms (0–500 A.E.)
- 0 A.E. — The Binding of the Triarch: The Sacred Triarch spreads across Atherra, uniting the early tribes under shared faith. The three faces of Fire, Sun, and Tide begin to fracture kingdoms into rival paths, even as they grant them common ground.
- 137 A.E. — The First Dueling Oath of Caeroth Vale: Knights of Caeroth swear to settle disputes by single combat, binding law and honor to the blade. This practice cements the Vale’s culture of strength-through-duels.
- 342 A.E. — Rise of House Morgrave in Kalandor: Morgrave lords seize the western marches of Varestal, shaping Kalandor into a fortress-land of discipline, iron, and order. Their motto “Strength Through Order” spreads beyond their banners.
- 497 A.E. — The First Wars of Fire and Sun: Vassaria’s Sun zealots launch their first crusade into Varestal, claiming divine dominion. Tens of thousands perish as fire-forged knights clash with sun-fueled armies.
The Age of Crowns (500–1000 A.E.)
- 613 A.E. — Coronation of House Alden Kings: The southern House Alden takes the throne of Varestal, ruling in fragile legitimacy under the Triarch’s Fire. Their dynasty endures for centuries, but cracks slowly form.
- 745 A.E. — The Wave Wars: Thalyric Dominion and Iskania erupt into naval conflict, each claiming divine right to dominate the seas under the Tide’s blessing. New shipbuilding techniques and coastal fortresses reshape maritime warfare.
- 892 A.E. — Pact of Rhazamir: The desert tribes unite under the first Sultan, forging the Rhazamir Sultanate. They sanctify the Sun as their eternal lord, declaring survival in the desert proof of chosen destiny.
The Age of Fractures (1000–1400 A.E.)
- 1013 A.E. — Schism of the Triarch: The First Great Council collapses in fury. Fire, Sun, and Tide faithful denounce one another as heretics. From this point, the Triarch is no longer a unifying faith but the root of endless holy wars.
- 1176 A.E. — Rise of the Zerathane Confederacy: Merchant cities, tired of crowns and crusades, unite under coin and council. Prosperity replaces bloodline as their law, creating the most powerful trade hub in Atherra.
- 1290 A.E. — Corsair Reign of Serrath: The Isle of Serrath becomes a pirate kingdom. Captains forge a twisted Triarch, hailing Fire as freedom and Tide as plunder. Raids devastate Iskania’s coasts for over a century.
- 1399 A.E. — The Great Siege of Blackvale: Vassaria descends upon Kalandor. Duke Morgrave holds Blackvale fortress for three years without breaking, cementing his house as the fiercest defenders of Fire’s dominion.
The Age of Rebellion (1400–1500 A.E.)
- 1432 A.E. — Treaty of Veldenmere: A brief peace is declared between Fire and Tide kingdoms. Veldenmere rises as a neutral trade city, sworn to prosperity above faith. The treaty weakens after only a generation.
- 1467 A.E. — Rise of the King’s Council: The Alden dynasty collapses in blood and betrayal. With no heir to claim the throne, great houses of Varestal form a council to rule in unity. Their rule is stable but brittle, plagued by intrigue.
- 1495 A.E. — The Fall of the Duke (The Fall of the Duke): After years of brutal conflict, Varian crushes the King’s Council and leaves Varestal in chaos. Amid this ruin, a small rebellion forms in the heart of Varestal.
- 1497 A.E. – The War of Ash and Blood (The Shattered Crown): Rebellion ignites in Varestal. Duke Varian Morgrave, long rival of the Council, moves against them. Caelan Drakemore — a minor noble of little note — rallies rebels and commoners, forever altering history.
The Modern Age (1500 A.E.–Present)
- 1500 A.E. — The Prince’s Awakening (Where the Prince Lay Dying): King Caelan Drakemore, once rebel, now ruler, weakens with age and war. His son, Prince Lucian, awakens from years of cursed sleep to find a kingdom fractured by faith, rebellion, and ambition.
The Chronicle is never finished. Each passing year adds another mark upon Atherra’s bones. What is written here is only the beginning.
